Pearson’s Correlation

The independent variable is socioeconomic status, which was measured via the highest level of educational attainment. This was measured through “some high school”, “high school diploma or GED”, “certification from trade or vocational school”, “some college”, associates degree”, “bachelor’s degree”, and “graduate degree or more”. These options were represented on a 7-point scale, where 1 represents the lowest attainment and 7 represents the highest. The dependent variable is enjoyment. This was asked on a scale from 0-10, where 0 is no enjoyment and 10 is high enjoyment. The correlation (r) between these two was found to be -0.262. This means there is a weak negative correlation between socioeconomic status and enjoyment. This correlation is not significant, therefore we retain the null hypothesis.
