GOAL 2:
By the end of services, the group will demonstrate an adequate understanding of depression and anxiety by engaging in a 5 minute conversation with peers.

Lesson Plan
Purpose of Session
- Facilitators will inform members on the purpose of the session and the importance of developing a deeper understanding of anxiety
Defining Anxiety – Source
- Discuss participants’ current understanding of anxiety and anxiety symptoms
- Facilitators will then define anxiety and anxiety symptoms
- Participants will then be given a handout discussing anxiety and its symptoms
Activity (20 minutes)
- The facilitator of the group will pull a random example of an anxiety inducing situation out of a bucket, announce it to the group, and then group members will break out into small groups to discuss how/ if the given situation influences their lives.
- This will repeat four times where each small group will have five minutes to discuss the given situation’s impact.
Discussion (10 minutes)
- The group will then hold a discussion based on results
- This will be a voluntary-based conversation
- Participants will share their most/least common anxiety symptoms and ways in which these symptoms affect them (work life, relationships, etc.)
Closing
- Facilitators will then ask if participants have any further questions or concerns
- Discuss briefly the content which will be discussed in the next session
