Survey Design

The best practices for survey questions are clear, no double-barreled questions, and no
negative sided questions. My research question for this project is, “How do simple family fun time activities affect family involvement?” The dependent variable is parent involvement, and to operationalize this, the question that will be used is, “On a scale of 0-10 (0 being not at all, 10 being very involved), how involved were you in the family fun time activity?” The attributes will be a scale of zero to ten. The independent variable is the activity given to the family, and to operationalize this, the question asked will be, “Did your family complete the activity?” The attributes for this question will be, “yes,” “no,” “unsure,” and “partially.” These are good questions due to them not being double-barreled, clear, and not negative sided.
