Diversity Practice Paper

This is an upload of a paper I wrote for this course (SOWK 492) in March 2022 in which I received a grade of 100. The purpose of this paper was to identify diversity, equity, and inclusion issues that were present in our senior field placements. From our identified issues, we were also asked to discuss how our clients may feel oppressed or discriminated against. Due to this, we were asked to conclude our papers with a discussion about how a social worker shall advocate for these clients on a micro, mezzo, and macro level.

At the time, I was interning in the Appomattox County School District and I specifically wrote about the disparities in the Black community, further delving into topics such as income, school staff, academic achievements, and truancy. This paper was supported by research.

SOAP Note

This is an upload of a SOAP Note I completed during this course (SOWK 492) as well in March 2022 in which I also received a grade of 100. I documented the process of attending a special education services eligibility meeting for a fourth-grade child. I conducted the sociocultural assessment/ social history on this child with his mother via telephone, which helped assist the team in realizing that the child did not qualify for an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) at this time, but may qualify for a 504 plan instead.
