About Me

I am 24 years old and from Northern Virginia and currently reside in Farmville, Virginia as I prepare to graduate from Longwood University in May 2022. I grew up as a military child and I have lived up and down the East Coast all of my life. The most interesting place I have ever lived was Alaska, which is where I was born too!

I have always had a love for social science; however, I initially pursued a degree in nursing with the ultimate goal to be a midwife. However, I shortly realized that my passion for helping others was not through medicine. By delving into my love for social science, I recognized my love for sociology which eventually became social work, and all the different avenues it lends itself to.

From previous opportunities, I have always enjoyed working with children (and their families); therefore, I knew that I wanted to work with that population once I began thinking of my future career path. I also realized that I enjoyed working with youth in transitional phases of their lives (middle school, college, etc). I have received the opportunity to serve as a mentor for incoming transfer social work students at Longwood University, the president of Longwood’s chapter of Phi Alpha Social Work Honor Society, and managed a small caseload of students in one of my internships. By serving in roles such as these, I have gotten the chance to broaden my leadership skills, organization skills, and administrative skills.

When not engaged in my course work, I enjoy doing my nails, shopping, attending concerts, cooking, trying different restaurants, and using Instagram.

This is a video that Longwood University’s Social Work Program and Communication Studies Program partnered together for in 2020. I was asked to take part in this project, along with some of my peers and professors to further promote Longwood’s Social Work Program.
