Digital vs Non-digital writing

One example I have of digital writing would be emailing someone. This is considered digital writing because I am communicating digitally (online) with someone rather than reading something on paper. Examples of digital writing include texting, instant messaging, emailing, blogging, tweeting, and posting comments on social media sites such as Facebook. Non-digital writing, also called traditional writing would be when you read something that is on paper, which would not be digitally, like a paperback book and a magazine that you can hold in your hand. Today I will be talking about one form of each that is related to my theme, which is my love and passion for Star Wars. The first writing I will talk about is how I posted a comment on a Star Wars clip, which was done digitally. After watching the opening scene of Star Wars: A New Hope I made a comment about how incredible the opening to the movie was. I posted my comment using the social media platform YouTube, which is one of the most used and popular social media platforms in the world. Since Star Wars is so popular there were many comments already made on this scene because of how popular the franchise is. The movie opened with one bigger ship shooting at a smaller ship, and you could even see the people on the ship in peril. You also were able to see a hallway shootout between rebel troopers and stormtroppers. After the stormtroppers took out all the rebels Darth Vader, who is the main villain, entered the room and looked at all of the slain rebel troops. I also commented that because of this scene, Star Wars was incredible, and also believe the future of Star Wars is looking very good. I will now talk about a non-digital writing piece that is related to the theme of my eportfolio. There was a book called Star Wars: Revenge of The Sith that was written by Matthew Stoner. This book was written based on the movie that was released in 2005 with the same title, but the movie itself was created by the original creator of Star Wars who was George Lucas. George Lucas also played a part in the publication of this book. The book went more into detail than the movie did. The book talks about what caused Anakin to turn his back on his friends from the Jedi order and turn to the dark side in order to save his wife from his dreams of her dying that he thought would become real. The last part of the book talks about when Obi-wan, who was Anakin’s Jedi master cut his arms and legs off it talks about the regret that Anakin felt about betraying everything that he stood for. They had had a duel on a lava planet called Mustafar. As Anakin was burning Obi-Wan was crying because of his fallen friend. He met him when Anakin was 10 and never thought he would ever have to kill his friend. As Anakin was burning he said with his last breath “I’m sorry master, please help me”, but Obi-Wan refused and left him to die in a pool of lava. These are the differences between digital and non-digital writing related to the theme of my eportfolio.
