Reflection

The microbial diversity experiment conducted in Biology 250-Introduction to Cell and Molecular Biology was interesting. Biology 250 was about the cellular and molecular side of Biology. This class was exciting me as it introduced me into the small parts of Biology I was really interested in. My project partners and I decided to look into a pond and a gravel path near the university.

When doing the project I was interested to see that both the conservation side and medical side of biology could come together. Although we were looking at gravel and pond water, we were still able to see microorganisms which excited me. I enjoyed conducting this project and working with my group.

Despite the wide variety of microbes that exist, we documented a small fraction of the total number of microorganisms on Earth. The goal of the project was to document the diversity of microorganisms in Prince Edward County. This helped me be more aware of what was in the microbial world around me.
