CTZN410

My senior capstone class was CTZN410: Queer Virginia. I saw many similarities between this class and my CTZN110 class from freshman year, as both were all about how people face discrimination based on their identification. We covered queer history in the US spanning all the way back to the Civil War, and it was incredibly eye-opening. We even researched present-day queer history in our own backyard in Farmville, and my group was even able to compare queer history at Longwood University and at Hampden-Sydney College. We presented this research at Symposium Day, which is a school-wide event where students can present research or projects from the semester. This class was one of the most interactive, growth-building, and eye-opening classes I’ve had during my entire Longwood journey.
