As the third oldest public university in VA, Longwood University enrolls over 4,600 students (3,485 undergraduates) and offers more than 100 majors, minors, and concentrations. As the only four-year public institution in Southside VA, Longwood serves as a catalyst for regional prosperity and advancement and has embraced the charge to grow secondary education in STEM. Our two partnering community colleges, VWCC and P&HCC, are located approximately 100 miles from Longwood and less than 40 miles from each other.
The InVEST in STEM scholarships, paired with either of our partners’ promise programs described below, provides a clear pathway forward for students to become secondary STEM teachers in a reasonable amount of time and without the burden of immense student loan debt.

Since its inception in 2008, CCAP has alleviated debt for almost 3,500 students in its service area.
