I enjoy modern history and the added challenge of an honors course made this a perfect class for me. WE went into a lot more detail than I had ever done before. My favorite part was going into detail about Islam. I was ignorant of what the religion entailed and the history of how the first Muslims came about, and the text “no god but God” was extremely helpful. I believe that learning about this subject is extremely prevalent because of how our current society is. There has been a 57% rise in islamaphobia in the United States since President Trump was elected, and I think that if people took the time to learn about what Islam is truly about, it would diminish the level of fear and ignorance our country has going on. I am thankful for this class and how it opened my eyes.
