I was ecstatic when I found out that sociology was a general education requirement for Longwood because I look examining people and their interaction with others which is why I became a psychology major. Dr. Ridden, from the first day that I met her was someone I looked up to because she is care free in other’s opinions of her. We agreed on a lot of things including our political alignment and views on the current president and many others. This class felt almost uncensored to a point, we spoke freely about issues concerning race, LGBTQ+, gender inequality, and wealth disparities. I owe a lot to Dr. Ridden because she made me feel empowered to stand up for what I believe in and I created my mental health club Promise16. Her encouragement helped produce this club and in my opinion Longwood is better for it.
