Survey Research

Some of the best practices for survey research are to design questions that are clear to the respondent, have correct grammar, only ask about what the research wants to know, avoid bias, avoid double barrel questions, and use easy-to-read language. The goal of the surveys is to have 100% feedback. If your questions are easy and straight to the point, the respondents are more likely to answer. Respondents like questions with check boxes for answers, it is easy to answer and results in the most feedback. My research question is, “Do family fun time activities help engage families in more family involvement?” My independent variable is socioeconomic class. My dependent variable is family involvement. I will measure this through my surveys. In my survey, I will have written questions that are straightforward, easy to read, and will have check boxes for the answer choices. These questions could be answered with a simple yes or no, or they could possibly be open-ended questions that will provide us with more feedback.
