Welcome to my research portfolio!

My name is Brooke Young, and I am a Liberal Studies major at Longwood. I am studying education, and hope to soon teach in a 3rd or 4th grade classroom! I have  a love for music, and this shows through my teaching methods. This semester, I was placed in a first grade classroom in Amelia County, and loved every second of it!

When I met my tutee at the beginning of this semester, he reached frustration while reading at a level “A.” He had not yet mastered the letter-name stage, and struggled highly with any form of writing. He made it very clear to me, and anyone who cared to ask, that he “hated reading and writing.” This portfolio follows the data, observations, difficulties, and breakthroughs I had with him over a ten week period.
