Reflection
When I went into this class I didn’t think I was going to enjoy it because looking at the syllabus it looked like a lot to handle. I was wrong in that assumption the classwork for this class was fun and Dr. Hodges made it easy for me to learn. One of the things that helped me personally was how open he was to discussion. I found out that I learn from discussing ideas and thoughts with other students in an open forum discussion. I think the best part of the class was being able to really open up to public speaking more. Dr. Hodges challenged us in many ways to voice what we felt or to talk about current events that we were seeing. One of my favorite things that I did in the class was the semester long project. In the class we had to create a project pitch and I chose parking at Longwood as my topic, even though my specific pitch was not chosen I was placed in a group of other students who felt the same about the parking situation. This project is what cemented my public skills more. We had to talk in front of the class at the end and tell them what we learned and how we can go about the project more.
Below I have inserted a button with the link to the final presentation that I helped worked on. It was amazing to be able to talk to some of the key people we chose, specifically Haleigh Pannell and Matt McGregor. Speaking with them helped me understand the parking situation at Longwood.
