Biography

Hello and welcome to my biography page. My name is Dylan White and I’m currently a Sophomore at Longwood University and a student in the Cormier Honors College. I am a Criminal Justice Major.

I was born Fort Lewis, Washington in the year 2000. My sister later joined the family in 2002. My other sister who was put into my family from Child Services in 2018. With being the oldest brought many responsibilities to me especially with my dad having to go overseas throughout my childhood. Being a military child wasn’t easy knowing that when my dad is overseas I was needed to step up and take some responsibilities to help my family out. I mostly was helping my sister through everything. Seeing our dad leaving wasn’t an easy thing to watch and no matter what I knew that I had to be there for my sister and for my mom.

I have always been interested in joining federal agencies for criminal justice. Ever since I was able to meet one of my moms friends, who worked at NCIS, I have always saw agencies to be my main goal to achieve and the place I want to go work at. NCIS is one of the main agencies that I am looking at for my career after college. I know of the work that is expected from NCIS and I know well enough that I can manage to be a great agent one day.

When I started fifth grade I had set myself to help my sister through her education and help her when she needs the help. I had a passion of always wanting to do well in school and provide help where I can help out at. My early education wasn’t much of a success as I had learned that I had developed epilepsy and caused me to miss out on playing sports. Instead of focusing on sports like most of my friends were I was focused on achieving excellent grades and doing things at my church.

High school quickly approaching to my younger self I knew that just doing things at church and keeping good grades wasn’t going to be enough to get to college. Freshmen year of high school I kept everything about the same so I can get used to the feeling of high school and the expectations of high school. Sophomore year of high school I decided that it was time for a huge change and took AP and honors classes to help my GPA and get some college credits if possible. Not only did I bring more stuff academically I also joined Mega Mentors, Broadcasting club, National Honors Society, National Beta club, soccer team, track team, and cross country team.

I knew academically I had no problem with succeeding but with me basically beginning my soccer career in high school I didn’t think that I had the experience to be able to play to match what colleges expected. Junior year of high school I received information from a college who was interested in me playing for their team. I was impressed because as my junior season came closer to an end the more offers I received from colleges that had watched me play. The coach that we had at that time pulled me after one game and talked on how he wished that I was able to play travel for him so that I could receive more offers and get more experience to be able to play in college.

I just completed my first year of college and now I know the expectation of college so that I can now succeed. I haven’t been really involved in Longwood yet, but with this upcoming year I have so many things that I plan to become involved with. One of the things that I am going to do is join the club soccer team, so that I can move up my soccer skills to hopefully be able to play D1 at some point before I graduate. I am also planning to become more involved with Longwood College Republicans next semester. I have experienced many things and with me being an Honors Mentor for the retreat hopefully I can build on that to bring more success to my future in academics.
