Out of all the colleges I visited in preparation for graduation, Longwood’s community was the most welcoming and friendly out of all of them. Everyone had a smile on their face and were happy to assist us in any way we needed. The honors retreat was an unforgettable experience and I had never made so many friends so quickly.
In high school I had a lot of difficulty mustering up the courage to make friends with new people, and even if I knew a certain person, if I didn’t know them well I was anxious about initiating a conversation. However at Longwood I am a lot more confident. I can recall several times at D-hall specifically where I was looking for a place to sit, spotted someone I knew, and instead of cowering away and sitting by myself I actually went over and asked if I could sit with them.
I am currently in Lady Joans A Capella, and went on a few trips with the outdoor club. I do wish to join more in the upcoming semesters and maybe even become a part of a sorority. It would be a great opportunity to get to know even more people and form many close bonds!
