Coursework

As a Creative Writing Minor, I am required to take an intimate look into texts written by myself, my peers, and published authors. I do not consider myself an expert on the topic, but by the time I graduate in May I should have a very clear understanding of what it means to be a creative writer.

Relevant Classes include:

English 209: Introduction to Literary Analysis – Where I learned the basics of Literary Theory in order to better analyze poetry, prose, and dramatic writings.

English 380: Children’s Literature- Where I read and learned to analyze the inter-textual and para-textual elements as well as passive and active ideologies present in marketing literature for young readers.

English 221:Introduction to Writing Fiction – Where I learned to question all aspects of a story, mine or otherwise, in order to improve readability and understanding through peer review.

English 222: Introduction to Writing Poetry – Where I learned to analyze poetry for meaning, aesthetic, and meter while avoiding cliches and direct rhymes.
