Summer Bridge

Professors on Summer Bridge

The summer bridge was one of the most amazing experiences of my life that I will never forget. The most memorable part of the trip were the bonds that were created. Whether it was on the boat with Captain Crabbe, playing cards late at night, or listening to Dr. Fortino playing the ukulele. Every single person made an important impact on my life and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to connect with them in a way mostpeople will never get the chance too.

One of my favorite activities was definitely going to Westmoreland State Park. I got to relax on the beach and just take a few moments to not think about the work we had to do. I was a little sad that I didn’t get to look for shark teeth, but that is my own fault since I fell asleep tanning. I also enjoyed going on the kayak trip. Delaney, Abby, and I ended up not canoeing the entire way with the rest of the group. We stayed back, tied our canoes together, and just talked. It was so funny listening to the many stories both of them had to tell. The funniest moment of the trip was when Rebecca and Jacqueline could not keep the canoe straight. I don’t really know if either one of them have canoed before or if the canoe itself was broken, that can be left to the imagination. They kept turning in circles and eventually Dr. Fortino had to rescue them when they paddled towards the land and couldn’t turn around.

Overall, the trip was an amazing experience and I cannot wait to apply to be a mentor for next year’s trip. I loved getting to know everyone as well as having two classes with them.

About to get on the boat to Tangier Island

Here are a few of my favorite pictures from the trip. I chose to include pictures rather than work from the trip to showcase how much fun I had and the memories I made.
