This is one of my favorite places to go to in Farmville!
Sandy River is a family owned business and started in October of 2011. Mark and Candice are the owners of the 24 acre property located in Rice, VA. When the two first started the plan, they wanted to dedicate 4 acres to the business. Mark and Candice enlisted the help of friends in the ropes course industry and together finished the course 9 months later. Mark and Candice opened the course in June of 2012. At this time, Sandy River was home to four courses. The four courses consisted of yellow, green, blue, and black. The courses start out easy and then get progressively harder each time.
In the winter of 2014, the couple decided to expand the business yet again, this time adding two courses. One of the two that was added was a completely new type of course to add thrill to the existing. The couple also wanted to offer more to their customers during the 2014 season, the decided to open Canoe and Kayak outfitters and High Bridge Bikes, Rentals and Repairs.
The current ropes course challenges you to a 3 hour adventuring in the sky. It features over 60 high ropes obstacles. Some of these obstacles include the tight ropes, swinging bridges, and 20-zip-lines.

Safety is one of the highest priorities by the staff at Sandy River. The trained ropes course staff will provide fitted harnesses and an instructional session before you start the course. Each ropes course customer will receive a “state-of-the-art, safe permanent belay system that attaches to a life-line with two carabiners that cannot be simultaneously opened: this eliminates the ability to completely unlock from the life-line.
