A plugin is a third-party application that interacts with WordPress to provide a certain, usually very specific, function for your blog or web space. For example, if you have a Flickr account you can use the flickrRSS plugin to bring photos into your blog space. Or, if you are having spam problems, you can activate Akismet to help you fight those dirty parasites! To see what plugins made available to Longwood blogs users please go the administrative back-end/Dashboard and click on Plugins. Once you activate the appropriate plugin in this tab, chances are one of two things will happen: it will either have additional options to configure in the Settings tab, or it will show up as a widget in the Appearance >Widgets subtab.
