Scholarship of Teaching & Learning

Dr.  Blincoe is the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning content expert for the Longwood Center for Faculty Enrichment (CAFE). She enjoys partnering with colleagues to examine teaching innovations and classroom. Here are some works in-progress:

  • For many years students enrolled in PSYC 234, Quantitative Methods, at Longwood University, have been required to create their own SPSS handbook. How does the SPSS Handbook assignment affect student statistical knowledge, technological proficiency, and attitudes towards statistics? Do students utilize their handbooks after the class is over? (Collaborator: Dr. Stephanie Buchert, Longwood University)
  •  How do the images and cartoons in introductory psychology textbooks depict psychology as a profession? Is their evidence of racial and ethnic diversity? Does psychology appear more often as a clinical or an experimental field? Collaborator Dr. Danette Gibbs, also of Longwood University, will present the results of this research at the Mid-Atlantic Teaching of Psychology Conference in October of 2017.
