PSYC 356 – abnormal psychology

For this enhancement, I presented and completed a paper on a disorder that was discussed in the class. This was difficult to decide because of the number that was discussed and the interesting and harmful impacts they present on a person’s life. I chose major depressive disorder due to my ambition to go into counseling, specifically pediatrics, where I know I will see many with this and need to understand the background of what this disorder presents. This was very interesting to research now due to the rise in awareness mental health is receiving and that COVID has created a severe uprise in the number of people being diagnosed due to the isolation and anxiety people are experiencing. However, I was surprised to see how many stereotypes were still being believed by the general population. Overall, this assignment gave me a great opportunity to advance my research ability, public speaking opportunity, and help my writing.
