While at Longwood I have participated in numerous service projects and cannot wait to participate in  more. My first was during the honors retreat and was at FACES, the food pantry in Farmville. While there, I sorted food into delivery bags, unloaded trucks of meat and vegetables, and loaded crates full of cans and boxed goods. It was a very humbling experience working with the regular volunteers and hearing their stories. The second was at Southside SPCA helping with their open house. Next year when I bring a car, I plan on volunteering there and the Woodlands in Farmville. I have also done numerous walks such as the Alzheimer’s awareness walk and a color run for breast cancer awareness. I have acted and helped set up the Haunted Hospital which helped raise money for MS and was on the Oktoberfest committee for the Honors Student Association. This year I have had an absolute blast helping others either indirectly or directly and I cannot wait to do it in the future.
