Application

Priorities

Awarding of the atelier is usually given according to seniority of service in the Commonwealth’s contractual universities, but is often available to non-contractual universities.  Preference is given to applicants who have not previously had use of the atelier. Applicant’s work proposal may also be a factor in selection. Full-time faculty have highest priority, adjuncts have next priority and retired faculty have third priority, since the original purpose was to use this facility as a recruiting tool for faculty, and that these faculty bring back their rich experiences to share with their students. Summer slots are the most requested. We will attempt to accommodate everyone who qualifies as long as they have patience and flexibility, since we are trying to insure the studio is always inhabited by residents of Virginia, rather than go vacant.

One problem is everyone that has resided there, always wants to return. You are reminded that you can apply directly to the Cité since they have other studios there, especially in the late summer.
