During this semester at my internship, I have had to curate content that was used throughout the building and online. I have learned more about digital media and the thought process that goes into curating content and putting together something as simple as a rule list. The examples included on this page were samples of work I did throughout the first semester of this internship I am completing. Something I have learned from creating these flyers is the contrast of colors and the use of words to try and attract peoples attention. Throughout the semester, I have curated content such as this that attempts to convey information to students and faculty alike. I have tried to combine my experience as a student along with my familiarity with digital media to create these flyers to be both posted around the building and on social media. The process of this, although extensive, showed me that there are always revisions to be made, and things can always be improved. Prior to this internship, I did not have much experience with the digital media side of marketing and advertising. Now, I feel very confident in my ability to create a piece that I would showcase in the future. I have also gained quite a bit of experience with the day-to-day social media postings for the University Center as well. I began a weekly posting schedule that interviews one student worker or faculty member. I have noticed trends influencing the social media account as well as adapting to them. For example, I began the semester by posting only on the direct feed of Instagram. Now, I split postings between both the Instagram and Facebook Story as well as the direct feed. This has increased our followers on the account as well as views on the Instagram story.

One accomplishment I feel very proud of has been my ability to manage my time consistently. I have found that it is extremely important to be able to “time-block” your time accordingly. I learned this concept of “time blocking” in my previous internship, however, I feel as if I have put it into practice more successfully at this time and it has become more applicable for me to need to do. Another accomplishment I am proud of is my ability to create content, as mentioned earlier. There were many times at the beginning of the year that I did not have the confidence to curate content that should be posted, especially if it was a flyer. Because of the freedom that I was given during these projects, I was able to create content that I am truly proud of and will look back at for reference throughout next semester as I am finishing my internship. Another accomplishment I feel like I should highlight is that I have an internship while in school. Sometimes people overlook this opportunity that they are given by having an internship at the school you go to. I am so happy that I have been given the opportunity to complete an internship in a field I am looking to go into in the future because I am gaining real world experience while still being in college. Another accomplishment I am very proud of is the ability I have gained to think outside of the box and try to get creative with the content I post and the structure of the flyer or social media post I put together.
