Gen-Ed Classes

Spanish 101

I took Spanish 101 in the fall of 2016. This class introduced me into the basic understandings and learning of Spanish Language and Culture. I had never taken Spanish before this class, but this really helped me prepare for 102 and it was very easy to understand. I learned a lot from this class and although it wasn’t enough for me to speak fluently, I can comprehend and speak the basics of the language. Below is a picture of a lab that I completed which shows my basic Spanish skills. Below is a lab that I had to do about the culture of Spain.

Chemistry 111

I took Chem 111 in the Fall of 2016. This class introduced me into the fundamentals and basics of chemistry. This class was a lot of fun and every lab was something new and more interesting. The curriculum really dove into all the basic chemistry knowledge and it explained things in an easy way. I learned a ton in this class which helped me a little for Organic Chemistry and will hopefully help me in Chem 112. The picture below shows a lab where we used chemicals and other components to make glow sticks.

Math 171

I took Math 171 in the fall of 2016. The class was supposed to be an introduction to statistics, but truthfully I didn’t get much from it. My professor was not the best and he struggled to teach us the basics of the course. This was one of my hardest classes to pass so far because I had to teach everything to myself using the text book. In the end, I did learn some basic statistic material so hopefully that will help me in future classes. Below is an excel spread sheet where I learned how to use excel better.

English 150

I took English 150 in the spring of 2017. This class was a ton of fun! It was a writing and research class which I was a little scared of at first because I am not the best writer. When I started this course I had never really taken a writing class and on my first paper you could tell I had a lot of work to do! From the very first paper to the last, my writing skills improved immensely. Each paper we wrote had an interesting topic and we were allowed to use our own ideas which I liked a lot. Out of all my General education classes, id have to say that this is one of my favorites so far. Below is a theme analysis for “Tangerine” that I wrote and it shows how my writing improved over the spring semester.

Spanish 102

I took Spanish 102 in the spring of 2017. This class took the basics of the Spanish language and dove a little more in depth. This class was fun at first, but I started to struggle a little bit towards the end. Although I started to struggle at the end, I did learn a lot more Spanish than from 101. I would say that I can now understand, read, and speak basic Spanish and have an ongoing conversation in Spanish. Below is a picture of my Spanish homework.

English 203

I took English 203 in the fall of 2017 and I can easily say it was one of my favorite classes. Each book we read and annotated was a very good read and I could relate to a lot of them. Overall I did very well in the class. I think this class will lead me to take more reading and writing intensive classes in the future. The artifact below is the last book of the year we read which is called “The White Donkey.” This was my favorite book of the semester and its what I did my final research paper on.

Physical Education 101

This class was a lot easier and fun than I expected. I did enjoy going to this class, but was only able to do it for a few weeks because I injured myself and so I just tested out. I didn’t learn  that much, but going to a class that keeps you active was a nice change and one I looked forward to going to every week. The artifact below is a list of workouts and stretches we did during the class.

Spanish 201

I took Spanish 201 in the fall of 2017. This class was pretty basic and kind of all over the place with what we learned in the Spanish language and culture. If I am being honest this class was very easy, but that is because we were only graded on quizzes and home work. Overall, I would actually say that I learned nothing in this class and couldn’t take in any of the information that was given. Below is a picture of the text book that I used. I don’t really have a good artifact for this class because we didn’t do much.

Sociology 101

I took sociology 101 in the spring of 2018. This class was just an intro to sociology. This class was from 6-9 on Tuesdays which sounded like a good idea at first, but ultimately was not the best decision. It took a lot of out me to focus for 3 hours straight. She lectured for three hours straight as well which is why is was hard to pay attention. I did enjoy some of the topics that we went over and some of the discussions we had in class. Overall this class was okay and I would take it again just at a different time. Below is my final paper that I did on gender roles in a college party setting which was very interesting and I earned an A!
