EDUC 245

Reflection:

Coming into my Honors Education class, I was a bit weary. Not because of the material in the class, but because the class didn’t apply towards my major. I remember walking into the first day of this class and being shocked; I was surrounded by Education majors and I was a kinesiology major. Quickly, this fear had faded, I started to really enjoy this class. Although this class was in the Education field, it included a lot of science related material; something I had really taken interest in. Not only did I thoroughly enjoy the material, I loved our professor. Dr. Cosby was an amazing woman and taught us well. She was very passionate about what she did, she loved being a teacher; not so coincidental since she was an Education professor! One of my favorite parts of the class was the hands on work Dr. Cosby had us do, not only was it enjoyable, it really helped me grasp the concept we were learning.

The biggest lesson I learned in this class was to take my opportunities and to study my notes quite frequently. One of the best opportunities we were given was the chance to take quizzes home. I would always take this opportunity and run with it; I always put 100% in my work and tried my best to get that 100%! I had learned quickly that it was important to study our notes frequently because Dr. Cosby would ask us questions daily about what we had learned the day before. In the beginning of the class I wasn’t so motivated to do so (I had always hoped that Dr. Cosby would skip me when asking students questions), but once I started studying my notes nightly, I wasn’t afraid to be called on; I was confident. That was the best thing this class did for me, was give me confidence. Before this class I was always afraid to do presentations, but since we did them so often, it became an easy task.

Although it wasn’t my best work, I take great pride in my Theory Notebook. The Theory Notebook was the final project in EDUC 245 and the most important project. We had to compile a semester’s worth of information into one document coving all of the theories we had learned in the class. It was a long and hard task to complete, but I tried my best and had fun while doing it. I feel as if the Theory Notebook displays my knowledge in the class, and this knowledge was heavily developed through long nights of reading through notes and textbooks. It also displays my growth in the understanding of the material we had covered in the course.
