Reflection:
The first honors course I had taken my first year was Inquiry into Citizenship. At first I was a bit weary getting into the class, but once we delved into the philosophy I had gained a huge interest in what we were learning. The philosophy behind citizenship was quite interesting to me, especially since most of the material we focused on was around a century or more old. Not only did I learn copious amounts of interesting philosophy, I had learned how to correctly take notes and started to refine on my studying. Aside from that, the extensive reading we had done proved the importance of dissecting and understanding the complexity of the text. Dr. Blincoe was an amazing professor, not only was he passionate about teaching the material, he was passionate about feeding us valuable information for the rest of our careers; and for his family, especially his daughter. But, not only was Dr. Blincoe a great influence, I had made a bond with many of my classmates; it was refreshing to be surrounded by likeminded people passionate about their academics.
Artifact:
The artifact selected for my CTZN 110 class is a document of notes I had taken for one reading we did. The reason I selected this as my artifact is because note taking was one of my biggest struggles throughout my freshmen year here at Longwood, but Dr. Blincoe truly showed us how to take impactful notes. I pride myself on the ability to learn quickly and effectively; this document shows that perfectly. I look forward to progressing my skill of note taking in the future, for it will really help me excel in my course load throughout the years.
