Throughout the time I spent creating documents for English 470, I realized just how much of the material we learned could be transferred to my professional career as I graduate and transition into a full-time job. Over the course of the semester creating letters of correspondence, the brochure, press release, and formal report, I learned valuable information and course concepts that I will be able to apply to my future career as a Speech-Language Pathologist. When I continue my education at Longwood University for a master’s degree, I will be able to use my professional writing skills in collaborating in class groups, in writing assigned essays and eventually when applying to a full-time job as a Speech-Language Pathologist. While teaching others to communicate in my career, I will be using professional writing skills to record the progress of clients. With all of the knowledge I have of this course and its outcomes, I am hoping to always be an effective professional writer in any career path I choose.
