My end goal identity is still being written and figured out. My minor is English, and although I am still in the process of completing it a lot of the courses I have taken at Longwood that I feel will have a severe impact on me in the real world are English courses. I do know though that I want to work with people and I enjoy the office style setting. I enjoy greeting and seeing people each day and feeling like I can make an impact by helping them with a problem. I think from the courses I have taken I have put together a strong list of what skills will carry with me in the future. I have no doubt that all the courses I have taken will have some impact on me forever, but these courses I have selected below have a reason behind them. English is something everyone should know and have a concept of if they want to work with people. You will be required to read, send emails, and understand research in the ideal job I would like to have. Math is a concept we should all grasp in our daily life activities. In order to complete orders, or make changes to someone’s account, the basic math and numeration systems will be required. Communication disorders was an elective I took, but it is a course I am thankful for taking. I now know that if I come across someone with someone with a speech impediment I know how to understand and communicate with them better. You never know who your colleagues will be in the work field so any extra skills you have will benefit you. Sociology was another elective but it taught me a lot about different socio-backgrounds individuals come from. This will help me a better understanding of someone who might be struggling or comes from a different background. Liberal Studies course is something I am currently in. This course already has taught me a lot about myself. I have learned about several different disciplines and career fields. I have also learned how to make myself appear the best version of myself with life skill activities we have completed.
