Press Release

Next, my group were tasked with creating a News Release document to go hand and hand with our brochure.  News Releases are usually written by the media for use in the newspaper and other modes of advertisement. As the media is considered part of the professional world, our News Release is tied to course outcome number 1, which is to analyze and produce writing genres commonly found in the professional world. The purpose of our News Release was to get public attention for the new product we created, the Wizard Wash. To do this, we had to be strategic about the audience we were writing to in order to make the news about the release of our Wizard Wash relevant and of interest to them. In reflecting upon our audience, we felt as if our product was geared towards college kids and young adults as our product is compact, making it perfect for small living spaces, and efficient as it completes cycles in under an hour, making it perfect for those who are short on time. The News Release utilized typical block letter formatting for professional documents, connecting our document to course our course outcome number 4, which is creating professional documents that use design.  Additionally, this was a group effort. We had to learn to collaborate, expand on one another’s ideas, and to link our ideas together to form a cohesive document. Overall, this assignment gave me insight into what components are necessary for the press releases that I see so often in the media and gave me a chance to better my collaborating skills.
