One of my favorite, yet most difficult, courses taken at Longwood was immunology. As a senior in this course, it was challenging but so interesting. Dr. Barber was fantastic at really driving in the importance of this course and the contents within.

For my honor’s research, my group and I decided to observe the effects of estrogen within different flavonoids. We ran many, many tests including ELISA’s, which we were then able to make a scientific conclusion based upon our results. This project was useful to me because as a future employee within the medical field, understanding aspects of the body and resources around us is critical. This project was also beneficial to me in that it allowed me to really get comfortable with common lab procedures as well as research techniques.

My favorite takeaway from this honor’s project was not the poster, but the article we wrote from our experiment/poster. We were assigned to transfer our research into an article for children, within in “Frontier’s of the Young Minds” Journal.
