As an incoming freshman, LSEM was a great learning experience and helped me feel more at home here at Longwood. My LSEM professor, Dr. Martz, did a great job instructing the class in ways that would benefit us the most. I thoroughly enjoyed our “D-Hall” style discussions of the summer reading “Tension City”. My LSEM peer mentor, Tatianna Griffin, worked hard from the beginning of the summer to help all of us students be informed and comfortable our first semester.

In this class, I made a ton of friends. I knew no-one really moving in, so getting to meet my classmates prior to actually classes starting was a huge relief. I enjoyed the discussions and getting to know the personalities of my classmates more. The assignments did not require a huge load of work, which was a relief since we were trying to get used to our other classes.

I am beyond thankful for the class I was in. I now have life-long friends and a more personal attachment to the place I now call “home”.
