Week of the Young Child

This week, we are celebrating the Week of the Young Child at the Andy Taylor Center! The Week of the Young Child is an annual celebration hosted by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) celebrating early learning, young children, their teachers, and families.

Please check our Facebook page for daily updates on our Week of the Young Child activities and celebrations. As a reminder, we will be hosting a “Picnic In the Piazza” on Friday for families that will start at 10:30. Please sign up on the RSVP list if you have not already done so!

We will resume normal blogposts next week.

Thursday, March 29

As a reminder, we will be closed tomorrow, Friday March 30th and Monday April 2nd. School will resume on Tuesday, April 3rd. Tuesday is also our first day of spirit week! The theme is “Little Lancer Day.” Students are encouraged to either wear Longwood spiritwear OR dress in Longwood colors (gray and blue).

We spent most of our morning outside today, taking full advantage of the glorious weather!   The children were eager to help bring materials out to the playground to use in their explorations. We brought out easels & paints, water tables & related implements, as well as materials for movement.

Welcome!

Welcome to our new blog! I will be using our new space to post daily highlights from our classroom activities as well as reflections on the interests and ongoing development of the students in the Dogwood Room. I will also be maintaining an archive of our project work and inquiries as we progress through the year on the “Our Learning Journey” page.

An exciting new feature of our blog is that it is now mobile-friendly! I recommend saving our page as a bookmark on the home screen of your phone or tablet. By doing this, you can quickly and easily access our page to stay up to date on all of the exciting happenings of our class!
