CTZN 410 – Launch Pad Course

In my Citizen 410 class with Professor Dolence we were tasked to launch our own viable small business, nonprofit, or social venture. We completed multiple rigorous reflective exercises to help develop personal insights for our small business. I really enjoyed taking this class and being able to have the creativity to make a small business.

My group chose to make our small business revolving around the abolish greek life movement. Our goal was to create change in the Greek Community starting with the Greek Organizations at Longwood University. We called our small business, Conversations with Greek Life, empower the change. I enjoyed working on this business with my group, especially since I am apart of Greek life at Longwood and I can truly connect with the topic. We executed our business idea by hosting an event called conversations with greek life. This was for non greek life people and for greek life members to come talk about difficult discussions relating to greek life on campus. The goal of this conversation was to host an open and positive conversation to spark change within the Longwood Greek community.

Overall, I really enjoyed taking this class and being able to create a small business that is still being used today. We pitched our idea to the organization on campus, Greeks for Change, and they have continued our business in now having annual conversations with Greek life. Below, I have attached our powerpoint that we presented at Symposium. The powerpoint includes what are business was, what our goals were, how we accomplished those goals, and how we plan to continue our business.
