ASL 110 was a pillar requirement for me. I loved taking this class this semester and I was excited to be in class every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Before taking this class I had little experience in American Sign Language. This class started off very challenging and confusing. This was my first time taking an ASL class and it was hard for me to understand everything at first.
I had trouble receiving others fingerspelling and signs and being able to understand what they were saying. I started going to tutoring sessions every week to perfect my receiving skills and also my fingerspelling skills. I really loved having my tutoring sessions and I loved being able to perfect my ASL skills. After having weeks of tutoring, my receptive skills improved and I was able to fully understand signs and fingerspelling. My professor had us practice scripts together by breaking off into pairs and signing with one another. This was another great way that helped me to improve my signing skills. I loved practicing scripts with my classmates and being able to learn ASL together all over zoom.
