Summer Bridge Reflection

One aspect of the summer bridge that I did not expect or even think about beforehand, but I ended up really enjoying, was getting to know all the other Life STEM students. That first day on campus I went to the meeting, and then went straight back to my room after. I had no desire to get to know any one that night or the next day, but the second night all the guys played board games together. That was when we finally started to bond, and it was only uphill from there. That first week at Hull Springs helped make us all feel at home together. Without the summer bridge it would have taken weeks longer for us to become as close as we did in just a few short days. We weren’t just hanging out because we were forced to either, after we left Hull Springs we got closer if anything. Life STEM has helped in so many situations because we always have a familiar face wherever we go, someone to sit with in Dhall, or someone to study with. On top of all that we were also able to form unique relationships with some of our professors. Living with them for a week at Hull Springs Farm allowed us to get to know them and ask questions. This was especially helpful because they were all professors within our majors, so we will be having classes with them for the next four years.
