Journal Reflection #2
Letter to Senior Self
Dear Senior Sage,
I’m not quite halfway through the first semester of freshman year at Longwood, but so far things are going very well. My classes are all interesting and challenging, but not hard. I like all of my professors, and the STEM program is in the process of meeting more professors for possible research opportunities. I have also already signed up for and made my deposit for a five week study abroad in Valencia, Spain in May. While in Spain I will be able to go to the room where Christopher Columbus proposed his travel plans to Ferdinand and Isabella as well as many other ancient sites, castles, and cities. I will be taking a SPanish and History class there, and most importantly I’ll be living near the beach. I am very excited for this amazing travel opportunity. Cross country has also been going very well, although it is extremely draining. I can’t wait for track season because I really want to get my fifteen hundred time under four minutes. I also want to get my pace for every event up to the 10k below five minute pace, so hopefully I have this done before senior year. I am still working towards an Environmental Science degree with a concentration in Life Science and a minor in International Studies. I plan to get a Master’s in Ornithology after getting my degree at Longwood. Then I want to travel and hopefully do avian research in the Americas.
Things outside of school are going well too. I have visited home a few times to see my family, Tyler, and everyone else of course. All of the LIFE STEM, Honors, and XC kids are great too, so life is never boring. Bertha the old tank is still running well too, although I’m not sure if she’ll make it all the way to senior year. I sure hope so though. Anyways I hope college guys well, and I find some time to bird between now and senior year.
