Designing for Therapeutic Recreation Student Success: Review and Revision of Program and Student Learning Outcomes
Presented by Susan Lynch (Department of Health, Athletic Training, Recreation & Kinesiology)
The Therapeutic Recreation program developed program and student learning outcomes for annual assessment and institutional reporting in WEAVEonline and for a 7.0 Series Report for the 2012 Council on Accreditation in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism (COAPRT) Reaccreditation. These outcomes were aligned with standards identified by the COAPRT and NCTRC competencies to ensure that the program was providing a quality educational program that was measured and assessed on a regular basis. Since 2012, there have been updates to COAPRT and NCTRC standards. This presentation will address the process faculty are using to review and align outcomes, curriculum, and appropriate measures in order to perform continuous and efficient standards-based assessment and reporting and more importantly, to effectively ensure student mastery of the NCRTC standards.
