The dependent variable for this ANOVA was engagement with the child. This was asked on a 0-10 scale. The independent variable for this ANOVA was the annual household income. There were six different income ranges to choose from ranging from less than 10,000 to more than 91,000. There was also a seventh choice of “prefer not to answer.” The mean engagement of households below the poverty line was 6.75 out of 10. The mean engagement of households above the poverty line was 7.60 out of 10. According to the ANOVA results (F=0.3419) there is no significant difference between these means. Therefore, income level does not influence family engagement.
