Survey Design

The best practices for surveys would be asking a variety of open-ended and closed ended questions that are clear, single barreled meaning they only ask about one specific aspect rather than two in one question, and able to be answered by the respondent. The questions should also be short, relevant, positive, and avoid bias ideas or terms. My research question for our project is what affect does socioeconomic class affect family fun time activities on parent involvement? My dependent variable is family involvement in the family fun time activities. My independent variable is socioeconomic status. My question to operationalize my dependent variable would be: On a scale of 1-10, how much did you help your child with the activity? The question I can use to operationalize my independent variable would be the income question that is included in the demographic section of the survey. Those questions are well written because they are short, concise, clear, relevant, and non-biased.
