When I completed the Behavioral Leadership Style self-assessment I scored a mid-range score in both leadership styles. I scored a six in task leadership style. This is a medium-high score showing that I am task-focused but it’s not extremely important. I had a similar people leadership style score of seven. This shows that I do value others more than I value production. I feel that is accurate, but I am not sure that this assessment is the most effective at understanding leadership styles because the questions were broad. I did not find the personality traits and leadership Style self-assessment helpful in learning more about my leadership style because it was very similar to other activities that we have already done so I go similar results. I already knew from previous chapter assessments that I had a low need for surgency and a higher need for human relationships. When doing the self-assessment on job motivators and maintenance Factors I found it helpful to learn this new information about myself. I found that I am motivated when I have the opportunity for advancement. Some of the maintenance factors I found to be obvious like having good working conditions because I do not think that most people strive to work in unsafe conditions.
The information that I learned about myself in this chapter is important for learning more about how I can become a better leader. Understanding my motivation for doing things is very important to understand especially as seniors we need to be aware of our personal goals and motivations as we start our careers as social workers. I think my strengths and weaknesses would change depending on the agency or organization and their goals.
