Family Violence

This course focuses on a sociological perspective on family violence. We studied the social causes and consequences of abuse, including spouse abuse, marital rape, child abuse, and parent abuse. We also examined the criminal justice system’s response and societal perceptions of such violence.

Throughout this course, we worked in groups to design a mini-workshop to provide
information, prevention strategies, and resources on a type of family violence. My group did research on sexual and physical abuse of elderly and disabled persons. We collaborated to produce the presentation linked under “FLE Workshop.” You will also find a personal reflection on the project as a whole under “Workshop Reflection.”
