The course examined the traumatic and normative strains and crises that families and their members encounter, including childbirth, divorce, violence, death, natural disasters, and family separations during times of war. It placed a strong emphasis on comprehending protective factors, coping mechanisms, family stress theory, and preventative and intervention techniques. The goal of the course was to give us the information and abilities we need to successfully assist families by addressing their difficulties and building resilience.
A bound booklet created for parents of Head Start students is the collaborative project we finished as a class, and it is included in my portfolio. The pamphlet offers helpful advice on how to raise preschoolers, ideas for stimulating play activities that foster resilience and child growth, and useful resources to assist parents in stress management. This resource highlights the value of providing families with meaningful and easily accessible support while providing a concrete example of the abilities I acquired, such as resource creation, effective communication, and teamwork.
