Citizen 110

The honors Citizen 110 class that I was placed in the first semester of my freshman year was titled “Bodies and Citizens”. When I first entered the course I was unsure of what it was about or my feelings regarding it. It ended up being one of my most enjoyable classes of the semester. I spent the term reading and annotating articles, participating in interactive lectures, and taking part in class discussions every unit. Throughout the course of the class, the professor, Dr. Dudley-Shotwell was actively proving to us her argument, that bodies, whether they be groups of people or singular human attributes, impact all aspects of citizenship. Not only did I learn about marginalized groups throughout history from Native Americans to Transgender Individuals, I learned how to pick an argument and formulate a course to prove it using various sources. At the end of the semester we had to choose a topic and argument, make a course syllabus, and present a 3-Minute Thesis, which I decided to include as my artifact in the link below.
