Microbes, or microorganisms, are extremely small, microscopic organisms that can live almost anywhere on Earth. Microbes are the most diverse group of living organisms – more diverse than plants, animals, and insects! Despite the wide variety of microbes that exist, we have only documented a small fraction of the total number of microorganisms on Earth. The goal of this project to document the diversity of microorganisms in Prince Edward County.
