My name is Payden McGuire and I currently attend Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia. I am pursuing a bachelors degree in Social Work with a minor in Psychology. I currently work as a private home healthcare aide in Lynchburg, Virginia and surrounding areas.
I was born in a very small town in northern Maine. From a young age I have always had a passion for helping others. I believe in the importance of helping those in need. When I applied to Longwood I knew I wanted to study a major that helped others. I tried sociology and psychology and realized that social work encompasses them both.
While I am not in school I enjoy working with the elderly population. I work as a private home healthcare aide. I work one-on-one with elderly individuals who need assistance with activities of daily living. In some cases I have helped patients on hospice and their families with end of life care and arrangements. From these experiences empathy is one of my best characteristic.
