Pearson’s Correlation

The dependent variable for this correlation is involvement of parents. This was asked on a scale of 0-10 with 10 being the highest level of involvement. The independent variable for this correlation was parents education attainment. For this question respondents where able to choose from, “some high school”, “high school or GED”, “certification from a trade or vocational school”, “some college”, “associate’s degree”, “bachelor’s degree”, and “graduate degree or more.” There is a weak negative correlation (r=-0.003) between involvement and educational attainment. Based on this correlation there is no significant relationship between the variables and we retain the null hypothesis.
