We are past midterms and things are probably pretty hectic in your life. If you find yourself looking for a break, come to the Library and grab one of these new titles!
Check back next month for more new DVDs.
Greenwood Library is pleased to make available to the Longwood community a unique database from World Trade Press. “A to Z” is a survey of world nations and their cultures, with an added emphasis on business culture within different nations. Each country’s profile provides detailed coverage of more than 100 topics each, including the nation’s culture, currency, economy, food, greetings, holidays, human rights, language, stereotypes, weather, and much more.
You can access it from within Databases A – Z (which is linked from the library’s homepage), or directly here (requires Lancernet ID and password for off-campus access).
The semester is heating up and you might need a break from your studies. We bought a few new movies to help with that. Click on the titles below to find out their availability.

We asked our staff what advice they would give to first year students at Longwood. What advice would you give?
1. Always re-write your notes after class and read over your notes before class – professors give pop quizzes.
2. Make friends in all your classes and outside of class
3. Participate in class – Sometimes extra points toward your grade
4. Enjoy College Life – Goes by way too fast!
The early bird gets the newest DVDs!
Rest, Relax, Trust in your abilities, work hard, do not be afraid to ask for help, remember to enjoy the experience.
It’s okay to admit that you need help! I thought I was supposed to already know how to do everything when I started college, but I learned a lot by asking my professors, librarians, and other college staff. Remember that we are here to help you succeed!
Oh, and keep your eyes open for free food!
Don’t go crazy your first time being away from parents and the structure they provided you back home! Remember the reason you are here – to study and learn, not to party! I have seen students who can not handle their newfound freedom and flunk out, sadly. This is a big opportunity lost.
School is starting back up this month and we have a new crop of the hottest DVDs ready for the students arrival. Check out the titles below!
We get new DVDs each month, so be sure to come back next time to check out what’s new.
Every year we publish an annual report highlighting the year in review. Paper copies will be available at The Desk starting next week. Download your copy today: Greenwood Library Annual Report 2014
