LEO – the Longwood Environmental Observatory – is a multidisciplinary environmental observatory that provides hands-on, inquiry-based learning and research experiences for students. Our goals are to provide students experience gathering and analyzing ecological data and make public research-grade data for scientists, educators, and the community.
As stewards of this planet’s ecosystem, we want to teach the community about the importance of environmental education. Our hope is that by allowing everyone to see how regional ecological data is collected and used, it will foster future collaborative efforts between Longwood University and regional institutions or community organizations.
